The IFI seeks Information & Technology Officer

The Irish Film Institute is a multi-faceted National Cultural Body dedicated to the preservation, presentation and promotion of all aspects of film culture in Ireland. It operates an established and immensely popular programme which covers the Irish Film Archive, IFI Cinemas, IFI Education & Community Outreach, IFI Cultural Centre including bar, restaurant, specialist book and DVD shop, Specialist Festivals and library and publishing activities.

The IFI is currently seeking an Information & Communications Technology Officer. Reporting to the head of Marketing & Communications, the successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, initiative and a creative outlook, interested in developing the role of ICT within one of Ireland’s largest cultural organisations. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an IT environment is required. This position offers opportunities for the right person to develop ideas for innovative digital media, and internet-based initiatives, whilst maintaining and administering all aspects of ICT within the Irish Film Institute.

Core competencies
· Strong NT4/2000 Network Administration (MCSE/MCP desirable)
· Network Security, Data Backup (mcAfee, Arc Serve)
· Solid understanding of Email, Firewall and Proxy server technologies.
· Excellent troubleshooting skills, Desktop support experience across all MS OS’s and products
· Web Development expertise essential (ASP/vbScript, Javascript)
· Relational Databases (MS Access/MySQL/DBTextWorks/Sybase)

Desirable
· A recognised 3rd level qualification in Information Systems, Information
Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
· Working knowledge of Novell, Linux and MacOS
· IIS Admin
· Pegasus, QuickPay
· Flash MX, Adobe CS
· Understanding of Telephone, AV, Non Linear Editing systems an advantage
· Wireless networking
